JFocus
A downloadable tool
jfocus
A black island that grows out of your Mac’s notch and gently pulls you back when you drift.
Pick a project. jfocus sits in the notch — project on the left, timer on the right — and quietly checks whether what you’re doing still matches your goal.
A quick detour is ignored. But after about a minute of sustained distraction, the island opens up:
That’s a rabbit hole. Safari — lofi hip hop radio… Back to it · Snooze 5m · Not distracted
No blocklists. No screenshots. No complicated setup.
jfocus understands context, not keywords. Watching a Swift tutorial while building a Swift app is fine. Watching unrelated videos probably isn’t.
If it gets something wrong, hit Not distracted. jfocus learns from that and leaves you alone for a few minutes.
You can also switch projects from the notch and quickly bring the right windows back to the front. Your distractions are logged as simple episodes so you can see where your day went.
Privacy
Your screen is never recorded.
jfocus only reads basic descriptions of your open windows, like the app name and window title.
The only thing sent to servers is that window description so jfocus can decide whether it’s related to your current project.
No screenshots. No screen recording. No accounts. No analytics.
Requirements
- macOS 15 or later
